On the morning of October 9, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, met with Mr. Han Sung Won, Executive Director of SK Group in Vietnam. The meeting also included leaders from several relevant departments and agencies.
Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong Welcomed and Worked with SK Group Leaders in Vietnam
SK Group is the third largest multinational conglomerate in South Korea, operating across industries such as chemicals, telecommunications, oil, and energy. In Vietnam, SK Group holds a significant stake in major corporations like Vingroup and Masan. Recently, SK Group acquired shares in ISCVina Co., Ltd., located in Ba Thien 2 Industrial Park (Binh Xuyen), with a total investment of USD 300 million.
Mr. Han Sung Won expressed high regard for Vinh Phuc's investment environment, especially the province’s supportive policies for businesses. However, he also noted challenges in expanding investment scale and sourcing skilled labor for SK’s project at ISCVina. He requested support from Vinh Phuc in recruiting high-quality labor for business operations and favorable conditions for SK Group to explore further investment opportunities in Vinh Phuc. He also expressed his hope that Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong would visit ISCVina Manufacturing Co., Ltd. soon for a direct working session.
Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong welcomed SK Group’s interest in exploring investment cooperation opportunities in the province, highlighting that South Korea currently has the largest foreign investment in Vinh Phuc, with over 200 companies and a total investment exceeding USD 3 billion. Vinh Phuc is prioritizing investment in high-tech industries, semiconductors, electronics, industrial infrastructure, urban infrastructure, shopping centers, hotels, housing, and tourism services. The Chairman encouraged SK Group, as the third largest South Korean conglomerate, to consider Vinh Phuc as its first direct investment destination in Vietnam.
To facilitate SK Group’s exploration of Vinh Phuc’s investment environment, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong instructed the Industrial Park Management Board to work with relevant departments to provide information on the province's investment environment, mechanisms, and policies. Responding to SK Group’s requests, the Chairman committed to visiting ISCVina Manufacturing Co., Ltd. soon and assigned the Industrial Park Management Board and the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs to assist the company with investment expansion and workforce sourcing.
